Do you know some common sense about yoga mats? Let’s think deeply about why we need mats as a guide for doing yoga:
We can often see that yoga is either sitting on the ground or protruding on the ground. There is a mat underneath. This is the yoga mat, also called yoga mat and non-slip mat. As early as many years ago, Indians did not use yoga mats for yoga. They are in a quiet environment, wearing loose clothes, doing yoga movements and entering meditation very standard.
But in this society, the average yoga practitioner seems to be unable to leave the mat! Back to the beginning of the matter, why use a mat? The role of yoga is to prevent the spine, ankles, hips, knee joints and other body parts Bruises. Yoga mats are designed and made with professional materials. Not all mats on the market can replace yoga mats!
Types of yoga mats:
Yoga mats are currently made of TPE (also called TPR), PVC, and EVA materials. TPE is currently a good environmentally friendly material, but the price is relatively expensive; PVC materials are currently more commonly used, and the chemical Chinese name is polyvinyl chloride. It is very commonly used in the manufacture of bags, wires and daily products. The new PVC material has no odor and is harmless to the human body. The only harmful ones are made of secondary materials (recycled materials). EVA is mostly used in shoe materials and has a heavier odor. , Not recommended. So PVC is still a better choice. It is recommended to use 6mm, and the domestic size is 173X61; it is recommended to buy cushions of more than 1300 grams (because some manufacturers cut corners for cheap cushions). Now most school rooms provide so-called "public mats", which are public yoga mats that everyone uses in class. Some teachers even lay a protective mat in the classroom so that everyone no longer needs to use the mat in class. Most students will use this kind of public mat because they don't want to go to work or class with a mat on their back. However, I suggest that if you are a friend who wants to study for a period of time, it is better to use your own mat. On the one hand, you can clean it yourself, which is more hygienic; you can also choose a suitable mat according to your personal situation. In addition, if you have conditions, you can buy a yoga towel with anti-slip function. It can be spread on the yoga mat, which has a better anti-slip function, so as to avoid physical harm!
Introduction to the selection of yoga mats:
If you still need cushions to protect yourself, then how to choose a suitable cushion is very important. There are two ways to choose the mat: 1. Choose according to personal needs; 2. Choose according to material. In terms of personal needs, it depends on which form of yoga you are doing. Because different schools of yoga have different learning points, your needs will be very different. If you are learning yoga that focuses on softness training, and most of the time you sit on the mat, then the mat is thicker and softer, and you will sit more comfortably. But if the yoga you learn is Power Yoga or Ashtanga Yoga, which is mainly jumping style, not only should the mat be not too hard, but the requirements for slip resistance should also be higher. Why? Because the mat is too soft, it is very difficult to stand on it and do a lot of movements (especially the balance movements such as tree pose). And this kind of yoga action that will sweat a lot, if there is no yoga mat with better anti-slip degree, slipping will occur. I once used a mat that made me slip and fall, and never used that mat again. If you ask me, your movements are not so static, and you don’t sweat as much as running. Are they somewhere in between. Which kind of mat should be used? I will answer "I would prefer a thinner one." Because it looks like a car with a very soft suspension system, driving on a mountain road will feel like a boat. The thick cushion (above 5mm) loses the feeling of contact with the ground, and it will feel "distorted" when doing a lot of movements. In foreign countries, most yoga practitioners love to use thin mats. This is the reason. If you feel that the thin cushion is doing some kneeling motions!
There are many benefits of yoga mats. The above is just an introduction. I hope friends who are practicing yoga can read this.
